Delilah Ray is the best doula. I have had the privilege of having her at three of my births.
My daughter Sarah was running late, and it was hard to hold the course since she was my VBA2C, and first natural birth. Delilah was my rock, and kept me built up and encouraged, and even laughing! When Sarah was born, there was so much joy, and Delilah was fully vested.
When my daughter Katarina was stillborn two years later, Delilah really showed her strength. Doulas are not expected to help plan funerals, but Delilah did, and she walked with me through the initial tough times, and she still talks with me, and remembers things about Katarina today and always remembers her birthday. She was once again my rock.
Two years after losing Katarina we were blessed to welcome our daughter Aria. Being pregnant after loss is a totally different experience, and my husband and I required a lot of love and attention. We were much more fearful, and I felt like God used Delilah to infuse extra joy back into the pregnancy and birth.
In all three births, Erik and I feel strongly that Delilah was more than a paid assistant. She truly walked alongside of us, and was strong when we were weak. Her work began long before the day of delivery, and at all times she was our advocate. Delilah’s knowledge and love of the birth process, her extremely intuitive spirit, and her innate compassion will be unmatched. – Brandy
